It’s Been a Good Run…

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 10:05 pm

I am so sad, but I have to admit that I can’t keep up the one-photo-a-day challenge. I LOVED doing this Web site. Really loved it. So sad to leave it behind. I imagine that I will post random Anderson pics once in a while…but I won’t be doing one photo a day. Anderson, I still love you!

Man-made tree

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 11:33 am

I’ve been trying to capture this bottle “tree” for what seems like forever! I couldn’t get a good angle. And I’m not happy with this one — for it misses the tree part, but I think for now it’ll do. I want one of these in my yard! 🙂 It grows at the Anderson recycling center near the Civic Center.

How cool is it that Selma Daily Photo and I posted bottle trees on the same day?! Hers are quite nice. Love the reds. Bottle Tree Orchard.

Empty

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 2:33 am

Lily knocked this can on its side. It was upright, in the center of this sidewalk corner, all by itself. Weird. That’s why I noticed it. I walked over to look because of a friend’s story from his past job in a grocery store. Cans such as this, but mostly whipped cream, were found routinely empty, placed back on the shelf. So much so, that it was one of his duties to check the cans for “empties.” The theory is that huffers used the cans in the restroom and placed them back on the shelf. Weird.

Metal works

Around town I have seen manholes and grates stamped with “Sumter, S.C.” — but this is the first I’ve seen from Anderson. I wish I had taken a bigger photo to show the perspective. I don’t know what the AM & FC referrs to. Anyone?

Democratic Primary 2008

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 3:29 pm

This is my new precinct location. Three precincts were combined, and we all now vote at the Coleman Recreation Center. (A beautiful facility.) I went about 9ish to vote, and it was pleasantly quiet. No lines. Nice people. And it was fun to see folks I recognized from the neighborhood. I even saw a neighbor and her mother who I’d been meaning to e-mail for a while. Wish I had thought to get their picture!

Primary

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 3:40 am

A dark, cold, wet Saturday. The rain was so cold, I couldn’t make myself take a walk to look for photographs. So I drove to a voting precinct and shot from my car.  I like the colors of this voter’s umbrella. It was fun until a nice young fella came out and asked if I wanted to vote at the curb. *gulp* The rain turned to ice and snow about 5 p.m.

Little helper

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 7:06 pm

Isn’t he adorable? I first saw this little cutie as I was cleaning out my car. He was so excited, watching his Papi spray the water on the truck. As you can see, he stands ready to help when the truck needs rinsing. A larger pic is here.

After the rain

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 12:47 pm

I heard the rain lying in bed last night. They say that in Africa rain is a sign of blessing. It truly is that, a blessing.
