The great pumpkin search

Searching for the perfect pumpkin. Trinity United Methodist Church sells pumpkins at this time of year as a fund raiser. I think it makes for a beautiful drive-by view, especially with the lights strung around the pumpkin patch. Another pic is here.

Water Tower Sunset

Filed under: Miscellaneous — lessie @ 8:43 pm

I never noticed this water tower before this evening. Funny how a sunset will make something ordinary quite brillant. Homeland Park perhaps was a community or town at one time, but now it’s a neighborhood within Anderson.

Scrape scrape scrape

Filed under: Anderson County, Churches, Schools, & Nonprofits — lessie @ 9:58 pm

Saturday morning done good. Jay, Kelly, and Elizabeth. They participated in a Capstone Church project to help winterize a fellow Andersonian’s home. Another shot is here.

Spooky webs

Filed under: Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Homes — lessie @ 3:11 am

I’m noticing so many yards decorated for fall and Halloween. Love the neighbors’ enthusiasm. It’s putting me in the haunting spirit.

Even the floor

Filed under: Arts Center, Bay 3, Visitors Center — lessie @ 3:06 am

Even the floor of the Anderson County Arts Center Warehouse is beautiful! These patterns are found throughout. It appears to be concrete. The second floor is open with a railing in some parts, so the view of the floor is especially nice.

Clay fetish

Filed under: Arts Center, Bay 3, Visitors Center — lessie @ 1:46 am

Inside the Anderson County Arts Center Warehouse is the cutest, most incredible art store. The pieces displayed are by local artists and are just a wonder to look at. I enjoy it each time I visit. (Wish I could remember the name of the store!) The piece in the picture above is by Chris Troy — one of her trademarks is the acorn. A closer pic is here.

Many many trailer nails

Filed under: Arts Center, Bay 3, Visitors Center — lessie @ 3:43 am

Aren’t the steps beautiful? But WHAT is all that stuff?

Truly it’s something to see to believe. The Anderson County Arts Center refurbished an old warehouse  found beside the Farmer’s Market, between Main and Murray. On the stairs leading from the first to second floors are the gorgeous designs, based on children’s drawings. Walking down the stairs feels like stepping on dozens works of art. More pictures are here, as well as info on the artist, John Acorn. (After googling his name, I became more and more amazed at his work.)

Two courthouses

Filed under: Downtown — lessie @ 3:35 pm

One of my recent goals is to capture as many views of the courthouses that I can. Ha! This is not the greatest pic — but I love that some of Anderson’s skyline includes such stately architecture. The old is on the left and the new on the right. The new looks quite mammoth in this picture, doesn’t it?
