Perspective

The Anderson Area YMCA sports an elevated track around the main entrance and lobby. Exercising with this perspective could actually be fun. 🙂

Run Like a Reindeer

Filed under: Sports — lessie @ 4:25 pm

Saturday, December 5, the Anderson Area YMCA sponsored its 9th Annual Reindeer Run. It was a chilly, drizzly morning with an early start of 8 a.m. for the 1-mile fun run and 8:30 for the certified 5-k. The above cute fella was kind enough to let me snap his picture. Just behind him are the makings of a fine breakfast, free to participants. (By the way — have you visited the YMCA? It’s a very cool facility.)

Serious Play

Filed under: Sports — lessie @ 6:27 pm

This precious little boy caught me watching him on Sunday. We were at the ball field in Lindley Park. He kept a running commentary to himself; perhaps narrating a baseball game? He was just a bit too far away to hear clearly, but he would talk, run, jump on third, and then tear off to second. When he saw me and the camera, his new game became entertaining me with his leaps and sprints. Just too cute.

Old Times

I’ve heard people refer to this as the “old” YMCA ball field. Looks a bit lonely nowadays. Fant Street.

What do I lust after?

This small pool is yet unopened at Raintree Apts. It looks inviting, and it was HOT this weekend. Maybe it’s undergoing repairs. Word is the complex has two pools, and the one on the other side is already open. So are the Y pools and the Sheppard Center. Anderson — it’s time to swim.

If You’re Feeling Froggy

I took a tour recently of Enoch’s Karate, located in the Anderson Mall next to J.C. Penny. Above is an instructor, I didn’t have the chance to meet. He’s finishing up after a class. I wonder what he’s wrapping?

The sound that makes the dogs bark

Filed under: Sports — lessie @ 2:04 pm

A pic from the Balloon Fest this past weekend. I was happy to catch the balloonist firing (is that the technical term?) the gas. This low roar disturbs Maggie in a way that thunder doesn’t. When the balloons fly over our neighborhood — a wonderful occurrence — you can hear the ripple of barking as the balloons shadow various back yards on their way to the horizon. Does anyone know the name of this balloon?

Great Southeast Balloon Fest

A shot from the Great Southeast Balloon Fest, early Saturday morning. The balloons have names, I understand. I wonder if this one could be Stairway to Heaven. It flew straight overhead on its way to the circle overwhich its handler tried to drop a flag for points. The surrounding crowd cheered as the flag met its mark.

Not Quite Midnight

I rubbernecked at the 2008 Midnight Flight. It was fun seeing so many people of all ages having a clean, healthy, good time. Quite inspiring.

Convenient break

Filed under: Sports — lessie @ 1:57 pm

Sunday was c-o-l-d — at least in comparison to the temperatures we’ve been having. It didn’t stop these kids from playing outside though. You can see another air born here.
