Local Milk, Eggs, Cheese, and Brownies

Filed under: Restaurants and Commerce — lessie @ 6:50 am

Davis Downtown Market, located on North Main, opened a window for me that I SHOULD have been trying to push up long, long ago: We are surrounded by local farms producing quality produce! (Do I hear a big “Duh” in the background?) The above pic showcases Grade A Raw Milk from Milky Way Farms in Starr, which also sells raw light cream and buttermilk (that you have to shake! 🙂 ). In addition to milk, Davis Downtown Market stocks cheese and fudge from Split Creek Farm Grade A Goat Dairy,  free range brown eggs from Gainsville, baked goods from Black Cow Coffee House and Bakery in Honea Path, grits from Timms Mills in Pendleton (a water-powered mill, no less!), and many fresh vegetables. My list doesn’t scratch the surface of the good things you will find at Davis Downtown Market — and surrounding us in Anderson County. During my web searches, I found this S.C. Dept. of Agriculture web site and this private organization web site, both of which list local growers and producers. I’m going eat more local. Are you?

  1. I wish all the best to Davis Downtown. I have been buying from them for many years. They have great produce, and they are such nice people.
