Dying Art?

Filed under: Downtown — lessie @ 5:56 pm

The above store is clean and orderly, found in downtown, on S. Main. The front glass has a picture of the owner, Anatoly Odemchuk, in action hammering a shoe. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a good picture because of the glare. The above reflection is kind of cool — showing the municipal building.

On Sunday mornings my dad wears spit-shined leather. He purchased one pair in the 60’s and can still recall where. (I forget though.) Still new looking, those shoes have visited the cobbler only three times, twice for soles and once  for a heel. Because of my dad, I notice shoe repair stores and alteration shops. Most of my clothes and shoes aren’t really nice enough to take to such places, and when necessary, I enjoy doing my own mending. Course, maybe with the recession shoe repair and alterations will feature more prominently on all of our radars.

  1. lol my dad owns this place 🙂

    • Cool! I love visiting the shops in downtown Anderson. I’m glad he decided to have his business there. 🙂
