Democracy

Filed under: Anderson University — lessie @ 8:57 pm

I’ve become column obsessed lately. This lovely Ionic helps hold the roof of Johnston Hall, on the grounds of Anderson University. Love the scrolls, the egg-and-darts, and the floral decoration — which made me mistake it for Corinthian at first. (How COULD I have been so silly?)

When I see columns, I think of the Greeks. Then democracy. And I’m grateful. We had a tremendous regime change yesterday. We’re a nation full of folks with strong opinions, greed, and guns. And the government changed PEACEFULLY. A wonderful thing. We may not know what change President-Elect Obama brings, but he brings it orderly, lawfully, and peacefully. Amen.

  1. These columns rise so gracefully…nice tie-in to American political changes.
