Mixed media?

Filed under: Arts Center, Bay 3, Visitors Center — lessie @ 4:05 pm

Sorry this pic is a little bit off kilter. I took it several weeks ago at Bay 3, a store in the Anderson County Art Center Warehouse. Ruth Hopkins has a rich, comforting aesthetic, in my opinion. I look twice when I see her work. This piece appears to be layered with some type of texture. Interesting.

Are you also trying to ignore today’s date?
Growing up my dad sometimes mentioned Dec. 7, 1941 — Pearl Harbor. I didn’t understand his memory, his remembrance of a date, his emotion. Now I understand a bit better.

  1. I love her work, the colors are so wonderful.

Yes, it’s hard to look at the date without first thinking about what happened. Unfortunately 9/11 has become synonymous with the attacks.
