Going Baptist

Filed under: Churches, Schools, & Nonprofits — lessie @ 6:28 pm

Blvd. Baptist by you.

Steeple from Boulevard Baptist Church on –you guessed it — Boulevard. I went to this facility for a Dave Ramsey seminar. The people were really nice.

Hope I’m not oversharing when I say that I think I’ve “gone Baptist.” I grew up Presbyterian, was not-much-of-anything for many years, and am back full circle to being interested in God and spiritual things. One of the results of my journey is being open to other denominations — and I’m currently partial to the people I’ve met in the Baptist faith.

  1. Awesome picture, fantastic perspective!

  3. Haha! I “went Baptist” more than 20 years ago, after growing up Methodist and then partially converting to Presbyterian!
I listened to Dave Ramsey on the transistor radio today while our power was out…no TV, no computer! He said he had recently been in Charleston, S.C.

  4. I love this website! Back in 1964/65 when my family lived at 1117 Springdale Rd., my brother and I walked right past this church on the way to our piano lesson. Our teacher was on the Blvd. right across from Springdale. Her name was Miss Christine Scott. Anyway, I loved this church and thought the grounds were so beautiful. I asked my mother why we didn’t attend this church since it was right in our neighborhood and she said it was because we were Methodist. Thus we went to Trinity Methodist….. which I also loved.

  5. When my husband and I first married, 22 years ago, we started attending a Baptist church. We’d both grown up in different denominational churches. One of the things we appreciated most about the Baptist faith is the teaching of the Word of God. We learned so much together. Now we attend a Community Church but I have fond memories of our Baptist church homes and families. The nice thing about the body of Christ is that you are still family even when you are no longer in the same building.
