I love old newspapers. Time travel that you hold in your hands. Nita Jones shared this article while volunteering one Saturday at the Anderson County Visitors Center, in the Arts Center Warehouse. More pictures are here.

Nita is wrapping up her latest project: a book about the Anderson Police Department. She has many local anecdotes fresh in her memory, as her father was the Anderson Chief of Police for many years. Nita’s mother saved the above article (Anderson Independent: 1947) and others pictured here during Chief Jones’ service to the community. Nita’s book will be published by the Anderson County Genealogical Society and available to the public before the Fall.
