I don’t know anything about this building (or condos?).  It’s just off the historic courthouse square, downtown. A lovely location — and an amazing renovation. The gray stucco portion caught my eye as I drove down McDuffie. The arches, the glass. The enclosed court yard, perhaps for cars?

As I walked closer along the sidewalk and peered in what used-to-be storefront windows (which lead into a very nice lobby area), I imagined I could smell the real wood doors and trim, which gleamed richly in the sunlight. Between the two buildings, in the far right of the above photo, is a tiny “courtyard” reminiscent of a Charleston gated garden (minus the grass). Lights are strung above and potted plants decorate the patio, with comfy chairs at the far end. The building is painted a rich red and the arches above the top windows seem like eyebrows, raised inquiringly at me.

In short, it’s beautiful and smells of money. I’m so glad an Anderson downtown building is renovated so well. Kudos to those who renovated and those who live there.

  1. That’s the building Steve and Lynn Kay renovated for their new home along with Chapman Design Group’s offices.
