Local treasure

Filed under: Restaurants and Commerce — lessie @ 2:14 pm

A life-long Andersonian introduced me to J.C.’s, off Greenville Street. We entered through an inconspicuous side door into a kitchen for take out. The wild rice soup was to die for.

Yesterday, I went to J.C.’s with my mom, and we ate in. We parked in front and entered through the dining room. The sign at the back said, “Order in kitchen.” We navigated a series of doors and short hallways and found ourselves in the same bright and friendly kitchen. The cooks looked up expectantly from the grills to hear what we ordered and the friendly cashier (who commented he needed a coke, too 🙂 ) explained some items on the menu. The above sign guided us from the kitchen to get our cokes and then our seats.

The food was comforting and delicious — hot dogs and french fries. I was pleased with my visit and will definitely return. It’s homey, friendly, and good. I wish I had taken a shot with the name of the restaurant in it. Next time.

  1. World just gets smaller. JC’s is run by my brother in law “Bubba” and Jamie Cheshire. Be sure to try the “Bird Dog”, chicken tender served in a bun like a hot dog.
