Loud squawk

Filed under: Animals — lessie @ 5:47 pm

I love going to Pet Smart! I brought my camera with me this morning and snapped a couple of pics. The one above I got on the way to my car. A large mobile home was parked in the rear of the lot and an unbelievably loud squawking drew my eyes to it. The piercing noise literally made me wince. The owners were very friendly and the squawker was really beautiful. The owner commented that the noise was probably hurting my dogs ears. “How can you stand it in the mobile home?” “Oh, he doesn’t do it in there. He just knows where he’s going right now,” the owner said with a laugh. I wish I had thought to ask what kind of bird it was — and what kind of grooming he would be getting inside. But the noise was so disturbing, we talked quickly and moved on. 🙂 More pictures are here.

  1. I believe it is a Moluccan Cockatoo. Aren’t they beautiful? I love the peach color.

  2. Sorry about the second comment. About the grooming… probably going to trim the nails and beak(it doesn’t hurt them) and cut the flight feathers (also doesn’t hurt them.) I own an African Grey Parrot and that is what she goes to get taken care of.

  3. Thanks so much, Helen! I am glad to know! I couldn’t imagine what grooming they were going to do! And I thought it was a parrot! 🙂
