Little Known Jewel?

Filed under: Parks — lessie @ 1:25 pm

Above is the covered picnic area at the Anderson County Recycling and Education Center, also known as the New County Home.

To the right of this photo is a cemetery where residents of the “Old County Home” were buried. The county has honored them with an enclosed fence and tombstones. A monument displays the names of those who were buried. Pictures are here.

In addition to the Old County Home, a detention center was in this area. Anderson County has preserved one of the “sweatboxes” used for discipline. A picture is here.
