Melt in your mouth grits

Filed under: Downtown, Restaurants and Commerce — lessie @ 5:21 pm

Those who know me won’t be suprised to hear me say – food is a big part of my life. So I will be forever grateful to Cathey, a/k/a the Scribe, for introducing me to The Meeting Place. It’s a quiet meat-and-three place just off the street next to the new courthouse. (The building on the corner is being transformed as I write into new condos — part of the downtown revitalization effort.) The Meeting Place is somewhere I would never have ventured on my own. Oh, the delights I would have missed. My favorite meal is breakfast, and the women cooking in that place KNOW what they are doing. Masters. Absolutely heaven-sent grits (and I’m not a big grit-eater, despite my heritage), fluffy soft eggs, delicious sausage… Meet me at The Meeting Place for Southern culinary ecstasy. If you’re female, 70 and older, you might even meet a mate! It’s a old boys hangout, in the literal sense. :)
